A person has died following an incident on a railway track between two major Birmingham stations.
The incident took place at Marston Green Railway Station, between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International stations, the latter servicing Birmingham Airport and the NEC, shortly before midday on Wednesday (October 15).
Emergency services were alerted to a person, ‘believed to be a man’, on the tracks.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Marston Green Station, Holly Lane, Birmingham at 11.48am following reports of an incident on the railway line.
“An ambulance and two paramedic officers responded. Sadly a pedestrian was confirmed deceased on scene.”

British Transport Police said its officers attended the incident but it is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for the transport force said: “Officers were called at around 11.50am today (15 October) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Marston Green Railway Station.
“Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The incident has led to the closure of the line between the two Birmingham stations.
West Midlands Railway which runs services on the line between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International has given options for passengers and advice on how to claim for delays.
It confirmed its tickets were being accepted on alternative services including between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone and with CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Coventry.

While those hit by delays or cancellations can claim money back via the Delay Repay scheme.
A West Midlands Railway spokeswoman said: “Services between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International are subject to delays and cancellation this afternoon (15 October) while the emergency services deal with an incident on the railway.
“Ticket acceptance is in place with local buses, Chiltern Railway and CrossCountry.
“Any passenger whose journey is delayed by 15 minutes or more can claim compensation via the Delay Repay scheme.”
And National Rail said the incident is affecting services run by Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway, Transport for Wales and West Midlands Railway services.
The delays were expected to continue until around 4pm but were cleared shortly before 2.30pm with West Midlands Railway stating: “Emergency services dealing with an incident between Birmingham International and Birmingham New Street – the line has now reopened however residual delays and cancellations may occur.”
