Arne Slot has created a clear pathway to the first team at Liverpool, and now one of his youth stars has been labelled as one of the most exciting young talents.

The Dutchman was ruthless during his maiden transfer window with the Reds, as several promising academy players, including Bobby Clark, were sold after being deemed not good enough for the senior squad.

However, he promoted talented duo Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni to the first team this summer, with the latter featuring prominently thus far.

While the 17-year-old clearly has a bright future at Anfield, another rising star who is plying his trade at the AXA Training Centre has received special recognition.

La’more Lee Forrester is one of Liverpool’s brightest talents

The Guardian released their annual list of next generation talents, focusing on one first-year scholar from each Premier League club.

In 2024, the British tabloid named Ngumoha as Liverpool’s starlet and now the forward is considered a fully-fledged member of the senior squad.

Reporter Andy Hunter has now named La’more Lee Forrester as the academy prospect to watch for this season.

“The England Under-15 international might be the latest gifted winger to roll off the academy production line at Liverpool. Forrester has been with the club since he was six and is now a first-year scholar.

“Blessed with outstanding pace and skill, he possesses a good eye for a finish and can operate on either wing although is mostly deployed on the right. Liverpool expect him to play a prominent role for Simon Wiles’s Under-18s – he is already off the mark in terms of goals and assists this season – and academy coaches are working on harnessing his pace to maximum effect on the pitch.”

Despite becoming the Under-18s’ second youngest debutant in 2023, Forrester’s season was hindered by a long-term injury.

The 16-year-old has begun the 2025/26 campaign for the Under-18s in scintillating fashion, scoring three league goals in his opening five outings. He also recorded a hat-trick and two assists in a 9-1 win against Aston Villa in the Under-17 Premier League cup.

A lot of emphasis has been placed on the Reds’ academy in recent weeks with “rock solid” defender Wellity Lucky touted as a potential promotion candidate following Ibrahima Konate’s latest injury setback.

With Ngumoha following in the footsteps of Raheem Sterling who burst onto the scene at Anfield during his younger years, Liverpool could now have another top-quality forward prospect on their hands.

Simon Wiles is pleased with La’more Lee Forrester

Although the Under-18s could not replicate the feat achieved by the Under-17s in the Premier League cup, Lee Forrester has continued to impress at the AXA Training Centre.

Wiles revealed in his post-match interview, following the 1-0 loss against Leicester City, which eliminated his side from the competition, that he is pleased with Forrester’s continued impact.

“In the first half, we did well playing against the wind, we moved the ball well with our build-up, but just lacked that last action in the final third when some of our decisions could have been a bit better.

“La’more Lee Forrester was a real constant threat for us and caused problems, which was pleasing.

“I come away from the game with still quite positive thoughts from our first-half display, and there are areas that we need to keep working on, so a real good learning for all of the players.”
