Former Ryder Cup star Andrew Coltart said he wants the biennial tournament to be played at Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland, which sits in an ancient small town with settlements dating back 4000 years.
Gary Williams asked him that on a recent episode of his show ‘5 Clubs’ on Golf Channel, and both of them agreed that the ‘little town’ would struggle to handle the entire world showing up in a town that is “a traditional Scottish sea-side town with a quiet location, and it enjoys spectacular scenery and an award-winning sandy beach,” according to the Royal Dornoch website.
Coltart said “I’d love to see them deal with that golf course.” The Links House is a luxury boutique hotel with only 15 bedrooms that sits directly next to Royal Dornoch’s first tee.

“If I could have my room at Links House, sign me up. That’s the holy land right there, that’s a good call,” added Williams.
Royal Dornoch is already set to host the 45th Curtis Cup Match between Great Britain, Ireland, and the U.S. in three years. It’s also hosted the R&A Women’s and Men’s Senior Amateur championships in 2022 and the Vagliano and Junior Vagliano trophy matches.
Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, the executive director said “we look forward to staging the Curtis Cup at such a historic venue in 2028.
Coltart said on ‘5 Clubs’ show that he wants to see the Ryder Cup at Royal Dornoch in Scotland
“We want to give elite amateur golfers world-class platforms to show us how well they can perform and that will certainly be the case at Royal Dornoch. The Championship Course has earned worldwide acclaim and it promises to be a wonderful occasion in the rich history of the Curtis Cup.”
The general manager at Royal Dornoch, Neil Hampton, also chimed in.
“We’re proud to be chosen to host the Curtis Cup in 2028. As a Club, we want to support the highest level of amateur golf and believe our Championship Course will provide a fitting platform for the players.

“We have worked closely with The R&A on a number of championships in the past and we look forward to continuing that relationship to make it one of the best matches possible.
“The Curtis Cup is also going to be a tremendous occasion for the local area. With the Championship Course consistently ranked highly in global standings and the investment in our infrastructure as we build a new clubhouse, a match of this standing and stature will only enhance the reputation of Royal Dornoch, the town and the local area,” said Hampton.
Royal Dornoch was founded in 1877, and Coltart hopes that one day it can become a host to the world’s largest golf tournament.
