A man has been arrested after a victim had a ‘substance thrown at them’ from a vehicle in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police are probing an incident on Sutton New Road, Erdington, shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, October 8.

A member of the public was left with liquid on them and was taken to hospital for checks.

A 21-year-old man was held in connection with the incident.

He has since been bailed pending further police inquiries.

Police said there was no wider risk to the public.

A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: “We were called after a substance was thrown from a vehicle on Sutton New Road, Erdington, shortly after 8pm on Wednesday 8 October.

“A member of the public was left with liquid on them and was taken to hospital for checks.

“A man aged 21 was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

“There was no wider risk to the public at the scene but our investigation into the circumstances around what happened, and the liquid involved, is continuing.
