A main route in Cardiff is to be closed this weekend and into next week due to a gas leak, the council has said. The leak has occurred in Bute Terrace near the city centre underneath the railway bridge.

The road will be closed off on Sunday, October 19, from 4pm until no later than 4am on Tuesday, October 21. A diversion will be in place via Windsor Road bridge, Tyndall Street and Callaghan Square.

The area is a key route in the city centre and often busy with traffic especially at peak times. Never miss a Cardiff story by

In a statement the council said: “We understand this isn’t an ideal location but we have worked with Wales and West to try and minimise the impact to the area and we can only apologise in advance.

“We will have teams carefully monitoring these works during the time and they have assured us they will complete as quickly as practicable.”
