Leeds United are making plans ahead of the January transfer window as a result of their mixed start to the Premier League season so far.
Daniel Farke’s side have picked up two wins, two draws and three defeats from their first seven games, lifting them to 15th in the table in the season’s early stages.
As a result, Football Insider revealed on 14 September that Farke is planning to strengthen in January with key positions highlighted for improvement.
Following their promotion last season, Leeds are considering dipping into the Championship to poach the top talents and add further depth and quality to their team.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Leeds are now considering reigniting their interest in long-term target Gustavo Hamer to bolster their midfield.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Hamer is still on Leeds’ radar, although it is unclear whether they will be willing to make a move in January given what is expected to be a lofty price tag set by Sheffield United.
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in August that Leeds have been keeping tabs on Hamer with a deal in mind.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think they’ll definitely always be interested in someone like Gustavo Hamer.
“He’s a top player, one of the best players in the championship. He’s been on Leeds’ radar before.
“Whether Leeds would be willing to spend the big money that Sheffield United would demand for Hamer that remains to be seen.

“So yeah, he’s somebody that Leeds have looked at in the past.
“I don’t think he’s top of their priority list right now. There’s probably other players ahead of him, but if he doesn’t move in January, I’m sure there’ll be clubs looking at him next summer for sure.”
Alongside Leeds, other Premier League clubs including Everton plotted moves for Hamer in the summer, and could be tempted to reignite their interest.
Sheffield United reluctant to lose Hamer after disaster start
Sheffield United have been making efforts to keep hold of Hamer over the last couple of transfer windows, but could now be at risk of losing him.
The midfielder remained at Bramall Lane during the summer window, despite having held talks over a move away as Football Insider revealed PSV made a move to sign Hamer.
However, following their dismal start to the season which has them rock bottom of the Championship with eight defeats in nine games, his stance could change.

The Blades are understandably reluctant to lose their star player given the circumstances, however, and could delay any talk over his future until the summer.
With Leeds planning to reignite their interest and clubs across Europe keeping an eye on his situation, concerns are growing that Hamer could soon leave.
