A person has died on the Elizabeth line near west London this afternoon (Friday, October 17). Transport for London says that there is no service running between Paddington and Heathrow or Reading.

The person was found on the tracks at Hanwell railway station, after police were called to reports of a casualty there at 12.15pm today. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious and that a file is being prepared for the coroner.

There also also minor delays on the Elizabeth line between Whitechapel and Abbey wood following the incident. There is a good service running on the rest of the line.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at around 12.15pm today (17 October) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Hanwell railway station.

“Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
