An Edinburgh traveller’s shocking discovery upon returning to her hostel room has gone viral with more than half a million views on TikTok.
Backpacking Emily Melrose filmed the bizarre incident at 3am when, while island hopping in the Philippines, she found an unknown man asleep in her bed with his vape charging and feet hanging out.
In the video to her 40,000 TikTok followers, Emily tries to wake the intruder by tickling his feet before calling for security.
Edinburgh Live reports she can be heard telling staff: “I just went up to bed and there’s a man in my bed but I don’t know who he is.

“I think he went into the wrong one by accident but I tried to wake him up.”
The hostel staff then try to rouse the sleeping man before eventually lifting him and carrying him out of the room.
Throughout the ordeal, Emily maintains her sense of humour, describing the situation as “a series of very unfortunate hostel events”.

She captioned the clip: “Hostel living is NOT for the weak. Why does this always happen to me HAHAHA but also I feel this deserves a story time?!?!?!”
