A total of £6000 has already been gathered through the crowdfunder for the organisation, which has recently signed an agreement to work more closely in independence campaigning and messaging with the SNP and to lay the foundations for reuniting the wider movement through a movement wide Scottish independence congress.

BiS has stated that its base target for this year’s crowdfunder is  £80,000.

The organisation has 23,000 members, supports 143 affiliated Yes groups and has recently published its annual campaign review highlighting that since its launch in 2019 it has now distributed, along with its affiliated groups, more than five million pieces of physical campaign material for Scottish independence.

The campaign group has also recently launched its new energy focussed campaigns I-switch and End the Scottish Energy Bill Rip Off which it sees as key messages to reinforce how “Britain is broken and is impoverishing Scottish people and damaging our economy”.

Believe in Scotland founder Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp said: “Scotland has waited far too long for its independence. Believe in Scotland hasn’t stopped campaigning for a second but for at least a year, the Yes movement overall has been stuck in neutral.

“Political progress slowed, energy drained, and people became too frustrated to campaign. But campaigning is the only thing that will set us free.

“That’s why Believe in Scotland is launching a major new crowdfunder to help us reset the Scottish independence campaign, rebuild our momentum and reunite the independence movement.

“This crowdfunder is our call for people to help us get the independence movement back on the front foot, to push harder, to go further, faster, and louder than ever before. This is the moment to relight the fire of Scottish independence.”

Donors from the pro-independence group Business for Scotland are matching public donations pound for pound and BiS has stated that it already has commitments to match the first £20,000 donated.

The organisation has said that matching funding pot will increase as the crowdfunder progresses and so every pound donated by Yes supporters will be instantly doubled.
