A holiday company has decided to reopen the 19th century Dolserau Hall in one of Wales’ beautiful national parksManor house surrounded by grass and treesThe Victorian manor house is in the heart of the Eryri National Park

A UK holiday company is set to reopen a historic Welsh manor house as a hotel after plenty of demand. Dolserau Hall, located in Dolgellau within the Eryri National Park was purchased by HF Holidays in 2021. However, due to dwindling popularity, the site which dates back to the 1870s, was closed in 2024. The company has now revealed plans to reopen and refurbish the huge mansion in March 2026 after a refurbishment, creating 15 new jobs in the area.

Surrounded by five acres of gardens and sweeping views of Cadair Idris, Dolserau Hall is a 21-bedroom manor house located in the heart of the Eryri National Park. It’s also just minutes from the market town of Dolgellau.

Dolserau Hall will see a light refurbishment of its public areas, offering guests a revamped programme of walking holidays and sightseeing breaks to explore the southern region of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

It will be open for longer with an extended season stretching from March to November 2026. There will also be an increased number of rooms and breaks dedicated to solo travellers, responding to a rise in demand amongst HF Holidays’ members and guests.

This decision comes after a successful year for the walking holiday specialist, prompting further investment across its 16 UK country houses.

In 2025, HF Holidays reported a 6% year-on-year increase in solo travellers compared to 2024, reports North Wales Live. For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter here

It’s also going to be easier for guests to get to Dolserau Hall without a car. Thanks to a new partnership with Lloyds Coaches, group transfers from local public transport hubs will now be available.

This collaboration also paves the way for twin-centre walking holidays with a new group transfer to Longmynd Hotel, HF Holidays’ recently refurbished country house in the Shropshire Hills.

A new recruitment drive will launch in January 2026 to support the reopening – offering new full and part time hospitality roles including housekeeping, bar staff, front of house team, kitchen assistants, and management positions such as Assistant Manager, Head Chef and Sous Chef.

For keen walkers who are passionate about exploring Snowdonia, HF Holidays is also looking to expand its network of volunteer HF Leaders in the region to guide its walking holiday programme.

Chris Simmonds, CEO of HF Holidays, said: “It is reassuring to see our members and guests embracing our renewed investment in this much-loved location, with almost fifty percent of next year’s programme already booked.

“We are looking forward to establishing a great team in the area and working with key local partners to ensure our guests enjoy a seamless and memorable experience.”
