Ka Ying Rising has produced a storming finish to claim victory in the world’s richest horse race, The Everest.

Jockey Zac Purton had the pre-race favourite two lengths off the lead heading into the straight of the $20 million Group 1 race (1,200 metres) at Randwick Racecourse.

Ka Ying Rising, trained by Australian David Hayes in Hong Kong, finished over the top of the field to record its 14th straight victory.

“I thought for a moment he was going to get hemmed in, but Zac is pretty good at getting out,” Hayes told the Seven Network.

Temped took second, with Jimmysstar third and Overpass fourth.
