Lily Biasin, the daughter of co-owner Jason Biasin, was so overcome it appeared that she may have jumped on someone’s foot in the mounting yard.

For 18-year-old Ruby Tsiakis, she wasn’t limping, but her dress was torn up.

The Glen Iris teen who was wearing a Pepper Mayo dress said she spent 30 minutes stuck in an escalator from 4.30pm, and missed the race she had hoped to watch.

“I was sitting like this for half an hour,” she said.

“They had to unscrew the escalator to get me out. My legs were shaking from being in a squat for so long.

Other than that it’s been a pretty good day.”

Her friend Bronte Fisher said she’d loved the fashion, “lots of colour, beautiful fascinators. Chunky jewellery, very on trend,” she said.
