Sadly, we are entering the colder months of the year, and to mark the occasion, Manchester will experience its last 6pm sunset of 2025 next week. With shorter and darker days ahead, that dose of sunshine is few and far between.
Since March 6, we’ve had the pleasure of the sun setting in Manchester after 6pm every day, but mid-October that finally comes to an end. According to data from Time and Date, the sun will go down at bang on 6pm on Monday 20th October, making it the last one of the year for Manchester. And it will happen on a Monday, which quite possibly makes it a whole lot bleaker, if you ask me.
On the following evening (October 21), Manchester will enjoy a measly 5.58pm sunset, just a few days before the clocks go back.

But when exactly will the next 6pm sunset in Manchester be? When will we be able to head home after work and it not be dark? If you’re already missing that late evening glow, prepare for a long wait: the next 6pm sunset isn’t due back until March 9, 2026. The next 7pm sunset in Manchester will take place in Manchester on March 29, 2026 and it’s onwards and upwards from there!
The decline happens quickly from here. The last 5pm sunset is scheduled for October 26, followed swiftly by the final 4pm sunset on November 24. While the days are shortening, maybe it’s time to embrace the crisp, cool mornings, the turning leaves, and, best of all, the extra hour in bed that the clock change brings in late October. However, winter is coming…
