A man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged “stabbing” on a Glasgow street.

Emergency crews rushed to Hawthorn Street at 11.10pm on Thursday after receiving reports of a man being injured.

Upon attending, cops locked down Hawthorn Street between Fernbank Street and Memel Street after a 52-year-old man was found seriously injured.

He was raced to hospital, where his condition is currently unknown.

Police Scotland have arrested and charged a 55-year-old man with attempted murder in connection to the incident.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday October 20.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 11.10pm on Thursday, 16 October, we received a report of a man injured in the Hawthorn Street area of Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the 52-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 20 October, 2025.”

Yesterday, in a separate incident, we reported that two men have been charged with attempted murder after a woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A 17-year-old and 36-year-old were arrested and charged in connection with a murder bid after a 43-year-old woman was seriously injured in the incident on Fernlea Crescent in Annan on October 15.

Following a police probe the two males were arrested and charged in connection and appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Friday October 17.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Two people have been arrested and charged after a woman was seriously injured in an incident in Annan.

“A 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital after the incident at Fernlea Crescent around 9.55pm on Wednesday, 15 October, 2025.

“Two males, aged 17 and 36, have been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder. Both were due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Friday, 17 October, 2025.”
