Heavy rain is set to hit Greater Manchester this weekend, according to Met Office forecasters.

Today (October 18) is predicted to be largely dry in the region. Cloudy and overcast weather is forecast through much of the day.

Some light rain is expected to fall at around 11pm tonight into the early hours of Sunday. Temperatures are set to reach a high of 13C this afternoon, the Met Office predicts.

The weather is then set to turn a lot gloomier on Sunday with heavy showers forecast for the afternoon in our region.

Cloudy conditions are predicted in the morning, before the rain sets in from around 12pm.

Rain is then predicted to fall on-and-off through the afternoon until at least 7pm. Forecasters predict temperatures reaching a high of 14C on Sunday.

On the overall forecast for the North West today, the Met Office said: “Another largely cloudy day, with perhaps a few light showers during the morning.

“However, a better chance of brighter skies than in recent days, with hazy sunny spells for a time.

“Becoming breezy in coastal regions. Slightly warmer than yesterday. Maximum temperature 14C.”

On the outlook for Sunday, forecasters said: “Cloudy and rather windy through the morning with periods of rain, perhaps heavy at times in some places.

“Winds easing through the afternoon and turning drier by the evening. Maximum temperature 15C.”

The Met Office outlook for Monday to Wednesday for the North West states: “Sunshine and heavy showers on Monday, then drier with fewer showers on Tuesday.

“Staying changeable on Wednesday with a chance of rain later. Often breezy with temperatures around average.”
