Alejandro Garnacho was a part of Enzo Maresca’s squad that managed a 3-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but only lasted 45 minutes before he was subbed off in place of Jamie Gittens

Alejandro Garnacho has sent a message on social media after Chelsea’s clash with Nottingham Forest having been subbed off at half-time.
The Argentine secured a £40million move to Chelsea this summer after a major fallout with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, but it appears as though his tenure at Stamford Bridge has been far from plain sailing.
Garnacho has featured in just three Premier League games under Enzo Maresca this term, with Saturday’s 3-0 win at the City Ground seeing him hooked as the second-half got underway.
Only Joao Pedro had fewer touches in the first 45 than the 21-year-old winger, who managed just 18 in total before he was subbed off during the interval in favour of Jamie Gittens.
The youngster was also caught receiving the full wrath of Pedro Neto midway through the first-half, when his cross toward the back post went out of play rather than towards the former Wolves star.
Speaking during the interval, pundit Peter Crouch said: “Chelsea were a bit sloppy. Credit to Enzo [Maresca] for making those changes. I know Neto was really frustrated with him (Garnacho). He was crossing the ball and not getting on the other side. Neto was really frustrated with him.”
Marc Guiu was brought on for Andrey Santos, while Romeo Lavia made way for Moises Caicedo, as the game kicked off for the second period at 0-0. However, it didn’t take the Blues long to take the lead, with Josh Acheampong scoring the opener 49 minutes into play.
Neto doubled down just three minutes later, before Reece James made it 3-0 with six minutes left to play. While Garnacho will have been fuming to have been taken off by Maresca, the winger took to social media on Saturday evening to give his opinion on the win.
Sharing a photograph of himself running with the ball to the stories section of his account, he wrote: “Happy for these 3 important points!” with blue and white love heart emojis. It comes as Ange Postecoglou was relieved of his duties as Nottingham Forest manager in the aftermath of the loss.

The Greek head coach lasted just 39 days at the helm of Forest, failing to secure a victory in any of the eight games he managed for the club. A statement posted less than 20 minutes after the full-time whistle read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.
“The club will make no further comment at this time.”
