Tranmere Rovers ended their seven-match winless streak in style, securing a commanding 4–1 win over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.
Andy Crosby’s side started brightly, showing attacking intent from the outset. Joe Ironside went close early on, his shot deflected behind after good work from Aaron McGowan, before turning provider for Charlie Whitaker, whose effort was comfortably saved.
The breakthrough came after 33 minutes when Omari Patrick’s pinpoint cross found centre-back Nathan Smith, who glanced a header into the far corner for his third goal of the season.
Six minutes after the restart, Rovers doubled their advantage. McGowan floated a cross into the area, and skipper Connor Jennings rose to send a looping header over goalkeeper Luke Southwood for his first goal since the opening day.
Jennings, lively throughout, nearly added another soon after, but his close-range shot was denied at the near post.
However, he made no mistake in the 73rd minute, pouncing on a rebound after Southwood spilled Patrick’s long-range effort to make it 3–0.
The 33-year-old turned provider six minutes later, sending in a low cross that substitute Josh Davison tapped home from close range to cap a dominant display.
Alfie Chang’s deflected 85th-minute strike offered little consolation for the hosts, as Tranmere’s travelling supporters celebrated a long-awaited and richly deserved victory — their first in the league since August.
