Fans will enjoy another game from across the pond in London in Week 7, but this time the NFL will be on display in Wembley Stadium. It’s a battle of two 4-2 teams, as the Los Angeles Rams take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Rams are looking to stay on track after beating the Ravens 17-3 last week, while the Jaguars are fresh off their second loss of the season, 20-12 to the Seahawks.

Coming into the season, the Rams were expected to contend in the NFC, unlike the AFC’s Jaguars, who entered the season with a 7.5 projected win total from oddsmakers. So, while these teams may enter with the same record, the level of expectation is completely different.
The Rams are in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West, so they’ll be looking to keep pace with San Francisco and Seattle in Week 7. The Rams didn’t face much resistance against a depleted Ravens squad last week in a game where L.A. quarterback Matthew Stafford only needed 181 yards passing and a touchdown to get the victory. Defensively, the Rams allowed only 117 yards passing to the Ravens, although Derrick Henry was able to get back on track, rushing for 122 yards in the loss. However, L.A.’s defense was able to stuff consecutive Ravens tush-push attempts at the goal line. Los Angeles will need to tighten up that run defense against the Jaguars, who rush for 124 yards on average this season.

Jacksonville has shocked many with a hot start, winning four of its first five games before last week’s loss in Seattle in coach Liam Coen’s first season with the team. The Jags’ defense is leading the way, allowing just 20 points per game, which ranks seventh in the league, tied with Atlanta and New England, and it is currently leading the league with 14 turnovers through five games.

Jacksonville does need to patch up its offensive line after a seven-sack outing for quarterback Trevor Lawrence against Seattle. Lawrence passed for 258 yards and two touchdowns, however, the sacks pretty much negated any positives. If that happens this week against the Rams, the Jaguars could be quickly headed for loss No. 3 of the season.

The Jaguars were successfully driving down the field just ahead of halftime, and rookie head coach Liam Coen found himself forced to make a big decision on fourth-and-7 at the Rams’ 11-yard line.
They opt to forgo the field goal attempt, down 21 points, and go for it on fourth down, but Trevor Lawrence is unable to find a target and opts to scramble, gaining just four yards. He’s short of the first down, and the Rams take possession after a turnover on downs.
The Rams executed two run plays with RB Kyren Williams, where he gained 14 total yards, but eventually opted to kneel it out with Matthew Stafford to take it into halftime.

It’s been a brutal start to the 2025 season for the pairing of Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr., but the two did connect for a 24-yard gain on the Jags’ fifth offensive possession.
Heading into Week 7, Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. were one of the least efficient pairings in the league, with a 50% completion rate between the two. That was the third-lowest completion percentage between any quarterback-receiver duo in the league entering the week (min. 35 targets), only behind Cam Ward and Calvin Ridley (45.7%) and, incredibly, Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams (47.3%), per NFL Research.

Matthew Stafford & Co. continue to pile on. After Cam Little’s missed 50-yard field goal, the Rams were gifted some more surprises.
RB Kyren Williams runs for a 10-yard gain to open the possession, followed by a costly 17-yard pass interference call against Jacksonville that set Stafford up for back-to-back 16-yard completions — one to WR Davante Adams and another to Colby Parkinson.
Stafford caps the drive with another target to Adams in the end zone, and the pair connect for their second touchdown of the day.
Adams has scored in four of seven games with the Rams so far in his debut season with the Rams.
His last game with multiple receiving touchdowns? Week 15 of the 2024 season … against the Jacksonville Jaguars. he finished that day with a 9-198-2 line.

Jacksonville finally had an opportunity to get some points on the board after punting on its first three possessions, gaining 32 yards on the team’s fourth offensive drive before attempting a field goal with rookie Cam Little. He misses the 50-yarder, and the Jaguars remain scoreless over their first four offensive drives.
It was a drive of missed opportunities for Jacksonville after committing an illegal block in the back for a 10-yard penalty returning the Rams’ punt to open up the drive, with yet another drop from Brian Thomas Jr. over the middle before Little’s missed field goal.

It’s the first explosive passing play of the day for Jacksonville, as Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence finds veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick downfield for a 17-yard gain — his first completion for a 10-plus yard gain of the game.
The Jaguars punted on their first three offensive possessions.

The Jaguars didn’t do much on their first two possessions of the game, but they’ve found some rhythm on the third, gaining their first first down of the game just ahead of the end of the first quarter.

No Puka? No problem, at least for a quarterback like Matthew Stafford. It’s been all hands on deck in this matchup, as Stafford has targeted eight different receivers through the first quarter, connecting with seven of them.
The tight ends, in particular, have been a feature here through the first two drives, as Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson have combined for five targets, accounting for 60 of Stafford’s 94 passing yards.
Through the first two offensive drives, Stafford is 11-of-14 for 94 yards and two touchdowns — talk about efficiency.

The Rams continue to pile onto the Jaguars early.
The Jaguars continue to be listless on offense, having gained zero net yards through their first two drives combined, punting on their second possession of the game, and the Rams take full advantage.
Los Angeles executes a beautiful 79-yard drive after the Jags’ second punt of the day, capped with a two-yard touchdown from Matthew Stafford to Davante Adams.
The extra point is good, and the Rams take a 14-0 lead with 1:51 left in the first quarter.

The Los Angeles Rams are without Puka Nacua in this outing, and they certainly had all hands on deck in their first offensive possession, as Matthew Stafford spread the ball around far and wide. He targeted six different receivers on their first offensive drive, connecting with five of them.
They finish off a 60-yard drive as Stafford connects with rookie Konata Mumpfield for a five-yard touchdown in the end zone.
Mumpfield had his first career catch just last week, reeling in one of two targets in Week 6 for a seven-yard gain. He was selected in the seventh round by the Rams after posting a career-best 813 receiving yards (five touchdowns) with the Pitt Panthers in 2024 as a senior.
The extra point is good, and the Rams take an early 7-0 lead.

WR/KR Dyami Brown set the Jags up with a 29-yard return on the opening kickoff, but it was all for naught.
Trevor Lawrence was sacked for a two-yard loss by Jared Verse, followed by a five-yard run from Travis Etienne Jr. on second down and an incomplete pass on third.

Jaguars two-way star, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, has been off to a slow start in his rookie season after Jacksonville traded up with the Browns to select him second overall in this year’s draft. He’s averaging just 32.8 receiving yards per game through the first six weeks of the season.
It sounds as though Liam Coen & Co. are hoping to change that moving forward, however. Earlier this week, Coen addressed how the team might do a better job of getting Hunter involved on offense.
“Scheming him open is part of it, No. 1,” Coen said Wednesday, via ESPN. “Our job as an offensive staff [is] to make sure we’re putting him in the progression and putting him in the position to be No. 1 [option] a little bit more often in some ways.”
Hunter has averaged 67.5 total snaps per game this season, playing 62.8% of team snaps on offense and 38.8% on defense. Hunter currently ranks fourth on the team in adjusted target percentage per PFF, which accounts for a player’s target rate on plays where the quarterback aims a pass (discounting throwaways, spiked balls).

Most sights were set on the potential of the Jaguars’ offense in 2025 under new head coach Liam Coen, who helped orchestrate a productive season for Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator last season.
However, it’s actually the defense that has shone through the first five weeks of the season under first-year defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.

The Los Angeles Rams won’t have their best receiver in London. Puka Nacua is among the team’s inactives for Week 7.
Nacua will miss Sunday’s contest due to an ankle injury.
Nacua sustained the injury on a missed catch in Week 6. He tried to return to the game, but eventually had to be taken out. Nacua wasn’t close to playing in Week 7. He did not take part in any practice during the week.

Week 7 brings a meeting between Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and first-year Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, who spent four seasons working for the Rams under McVay as an assistant.
Coen served as the assistant wide receivers coach in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, the assistant quarterbacks coach in 2020 and the Rams’ offensive coordinator in 2022.
McVay is 4-7 for his former assistants as head coaches (including the playoffs):

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without one of their key defenders in Week 7. Linebacker Devin Lloyd is inactive for the team’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a calf injury.
Lloyd was unable to take part in practice all week due to the injury.
It’s a big loss for the Jaguars. Lloyd leads all defensive players with four interceptions this season.
