Sheffield Wednesday are in talks over an emergency loan deal for Bristol City goalkeeper Joe Lumley, according to Dom Howson.
Sheffield Wednesday are a club in crisis this season, and things just seem to be getting tougher and tougher at Hillsborough.
With threats of a winding-up order lurking, Henrik Pedersen and co face a tough task keeping the squad focused on on-pitch matters. There have been some positive results for SWFC, but they couldn’t avoid a 2-1 defeat away at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Unfortunately, loan goalkeeper Ethan Horvath was sent off in the defeat to the Addicks. He saw a straight red deep into second-half stoppage time after taking out Isaac Olaofe.
It leaves the Owls without a senior goalkeeper, with teenager Logan Stretch next in the pecking order amid injuries.
However, it seems Sheffield Wednesday could be on the verge of making an emergency addition to the ranks, subject to EFL approval.
Dom Howson has reported on X that talks are ongoing over an emergency loan deal for Joe Lumley of Bristol City. The expectation is that the EFL will approve the signing with Horvath set to be suspended for two games, meaning Stretch would remain second choice.
EFL reprieve offers Sheffield Wednesday important goalkeeper signing chance
There’s a lengthy wrap sheet of regulation breaches under the Sheffield Wednesday name at EFL headquarters. It means a points deduction is inevitable, and until things are resolved, they’ll remain under a tight embargo.
However, it seems they will be given some valuable leeway in being allowed to make an emergency loan move for Lumley.

Pedersen would have backed SWFC youngster Stretch to step up like all his other prospects have. However, it will be valuable for them to have an experienced goalkeeper in behind them rather than a talent who is being thrown in at the deep end.
Lumley has seen it all when it comes to the Championship, so he should be well-equipped to provide an assured presence behind the defence.

A tough test awaits Henrik Pedersen and co
Sheffield Wednesday have one of their toughest games of the season to date up next. It means the presence of an experienced ‘keeper in Lumley could prove valuable.
Off the back of a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough make the trip to Hillsborough to face the Owls. They will be big favourites to win.
Lumley is formerly of Boro, so it makes for a chance reunion when the Bristol City man likely wouldn’t have faced them otherwise. The 30-year-old is behind Radek Vitek and the fit-again Max O’Leary in the Robins’ pecking order.
