A Birmingham man was due before court today, Monday October 20, after hundreds of pounds’ worth of stock was allegedly stolem from shops across Sandwell.

Ashley Mills of Watery Lane Middleway in Birmingham was due before Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He was charged following a series of thefts, which police say occurred in Smethwick and Cradley Heath.

35-year-old Mills was charged with robbery and theft.

West Midlands Police issued a statement on Monday evening.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged after hundreds of pounds of items were stolen from stores in Sandwell.

“Ashley Mills, aged 35 from Birmingham has been charged with robbery and theft.

“He was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (20 Oct).

“This comes after hundreds of pounds of items were taken from a shop in Smethwick on 12 October and alcohol totalling £300 was stolen from Cradley Heath.”
