A person has died after being hit by a train in Glasgow.
Emergency services raced to Easterhouse Station after receiving reports of a casualty on the railway line at around 1pm on Monday. Ambulance crews attended, however, the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
According to National Rail, services Balloch/Milngavie to Airdrie, Helensburgh Central, Garscadden, Milngavie and Edinburgh were affected as a result of the incident.
Rail replacement services were in place to run on some of these routes. It’s understood the line has no reopened by disruption is still expected.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Easterhouse railway station at around 1pm today (October 20) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.”

A National Rail spokesperson said: “A person has been hit by a train between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Airdrie. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.
“Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 4pm. If you’ve been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat.”
Scotrail posted to X: “Due to the emergency services responding to an incident between Blairhill and Shettleston services running through these stations will be subject to delay. We are working closely with emergency services during this time. Please use our app for service information.”
Shortly after 2.30pm, they added: “UPDATE: The emergency services have declared it’s now safe to run our trains between Blairhill and Shettleston. Disruption to services on this route may still be ongoing until our staff and trains are back in position. Please continue to use our app for service information.”
