The drama in the British royal family gets a new chapter seemingly every day. And though what’s been in the spotlight the last few months has been the relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry—and their possible reconciliation—as well as what that means for the relationship between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William, there is another relationship people are really interested in right now.
Just recently, Prince Andrew announced he would no longer use his royal titles, after rumors that his brother—and if not his nephew, when he was King, would strip the title. But now, there are reports that will not be enough. The Sunday Times reports that though both the King and the Prince of Wales are in agreement with Prince Andrew giving up his royal titles an honors, when William is King, he will ban Prince Andrew from royal life entirely. That includes public and private events and state occasions, including his coronation.

The ban will also reportedly include Prince Andrew’s ex, Sarah Ferguson, but it will not extend to their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
In a statement released by Buckingham Palace on Friday, Oct. 17, Prince Andrew said, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – SEPTEMBER 16: (EMBARGOED FOR PUBLICATION IN UK NEWSPAPERS UNTIL 24 HOURS AFTER CREATE DATE AND TIME) Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Prince William, Prince of Wales attend Katharine, Duchess of Kent’s Requiem Mass service at Westminster Cathedral on September 16, 2025 in London, England. Katharine, Duchess of Kent was married to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. She died on September 4 at the age of 92 at Kensington Palace surrounded by her family. Having converted to Catholicism in 1994, her funeral takes place at Westminster Cathedral and is the first Catholic funeral to be held for a member of the royal family in modern British history. “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me,” he also said. “As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News Digital the decision was a long time coming. “It was essential that this happened. It would have soon got to the point where anything the monarchy did would have been overshadowed by sleaze. When the email which proved he lied about the timeline of his links with Epstein went public, this was inevitable in some form.”
He also doesn’t believe it was Andrew’s decision. “I think he was forced out, he and Sarah Ferguson face much more scandal. They, to coin a phrase from his email to Epstein that will haunt Andrew, ‘are in it together.’ The posthumous memoir out next week shows that Virginia Giuffre achieved in death what she could not in life,” he explained.
Meanwhile, British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, “He will never be seen in public again with the senior royals. Prince William has been the force behind all of this, and he is right. Prince William is looking far more long-term at the viability, reputation and indeed existence of the monarchy.” She also added, “His not offering an apology is beyond despicable! He should disappear completely now and never be heard of nor seen again.”
But is this the last we’ll hear of Andrew? Some experts don’t believe so. Royal historian Andrew Lownie, who just wrote a book about him and Sarah Ferguson, told the BBC (via the Daily Mail), “It’s coming from William and the government, I understand, who felt that this was a distraction from the wider work of the Royal Family.”
However, he also said, “I think there’s much more still to come out. And I think that was what was worrying them, that they were best to distance [themselves]…before these new allegations arose.”
