A 21-hour yellow weather warning has been issued for Birmingham and the West Midlands.

The Met Office said heavy rain and strong winds are set to bash the region from midnight to 9pm on Thursday, October 23.

Downpours are expected all day while wind gusts are expected to reach 45mph.

In a forecast for the region, the Met Office said: “Today: A bright start across the region and largely dry.

“Scattered showers will quickly develop, with some heavy downpours at times, however the showers will move through quickly.

“Winds strengthening through the day. Maximum temperature 16C.

“Tonight: Showers will gradually ease this evening and skies will clear.

“Winds will fall light overnight, allowing a few mist and fog patches to develop. Minimum temperature 4C.

“Wednesday: Any fog patches will clear, leaving a largely dry day with sunny spells and light winds.

“However, heavy rain may move in later in the evening, with strong winds overnight. Maximum temperature 14C.

“Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Unsettled weather is likely to bring heavy showers and strong winds on Thursday and Friday.

“Colder air will arrive from Friday, with some sunshine likely on Saturday.”
