Sadie Sink’s rumored Spider-Man 4 casting may not be true after all.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is now in production. Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton, the film will once again see Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It will arrive in theaters next summer.
What is the latest Spider-Man 4 update?
Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink has been cast in an undisclosed role in the film, though there’s been no shortage of online rumors suggesting who she might be playing. Some of the more popular theories are that she’ll star as Jean Grey or Firestar; however, a new rumor that just recently emerged after some Spider-Man 4 set photos were shared is that she could be portraying Rachel Cole.
Created by Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto, Rachel first appeared in Marvel Comics in 2011’s The Punisher #1. A former Marine Sergeant, Rachel is a former Marine sergeant and an ally of the Punisher — a character who is confirmed to appear in Spider-Man 4, as Jon Bernthal is once again reprising his role as Frank Castle in the film.
According to Murphy’s Multiverse, however, Sink won’t actually be playing Rachel in the movie.
“While it is accurate that Frank Castle will have someone by his side in the film, descriptions of Castle’s sidekick shared by multiple insiders have indicated the character is played by an unknown Black actress,” the article states. “…On my end, I’ve heard that Castle’s sidekick is indeed played by a Black actress; additionally, I’ve heard from two separate sources that Sink’s character is not who she appears to be.”
Who Sink is actually playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains a mystery at this time, as plot details are being kept heavily under wraps. The movie arrives on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
