For the first time, they are giving individuals, organisations and businesses the chance to sponsor a festive light.

Costing £100 a light, sponsorship includes a personalised sign displayed alongside the Christmas light and a photograph of the sponsor’s sign and light shared on social media.

A spokesperson for the community council said: “Whilst we have received some grant funding from Musselburgh Area Partnership, as well as local businesses and residents, this does not cover the full cost of the community Christmas lights and torchlight parade.”

They added: “We have been working hard on reducing our costs for 2025. We have achieved some of this, in part, thanks to R3 Direct, who have agreed to store our Christmas lights, PAT test and to install and remove them.”

The spokesperson said: “We are hoping that, alongside other fundraising activities, that Sponsor a Christmas Light will not only guarantee we have Christmas lights for 2025 but will help ensure the community council is taking a sustainable approach to funding the community Christmas lights and torchlight parade in the future.”
