There are hopes the A-listed Langside Halls could reopen after eight years of being shut thanks to the financial boost.
Pollokshields Area Partnership and Langside Area Partnership have both decided to award £121,000 each to the southside property. A third area partnership, Southside Central, is to allocate about £73,000 according to council minutes. It is hoped the contributions will be match funded by Glasgow City Council and could reopen next autumn. It is understood the property could be run by a community organisation.
Councillors Zen Ghani, Soryia Siddique and Holly Bruce have welcomed the move.

Councillor Siddique, Labour, who has been calling for the restoration said: “I am pleased that Southside Central Area Partnership has approved funding for Langside Halls.
“I look forward to seeing work starting to bring this stunning heritage building into use. Bringing Langside Halls back into use is important because it restores a much-loved local landmark to the heart of the community.
“For too long, this historic building sat underused and subjected to vandalism. I look forward to it serving as a place where people come together.”
Councillor Ghani, SNP, said: “It is a heritage building with a huge amount of potential. It is about getting the money and investment to bring it back to where it was so people can use it.”
A recent Glasgow City Council meeting heard there had been an expression of interest in the hall via the People Make Glasgow programme – which enables communities to run venues.
It is understood Glasgow Life has been working with Langside Halls Trust and the local authority to bring the Shawlands building back into use.
It has been shut since 2017 for repairs. Langside Halls is currently on Glasgow’s Buildings At Risk Register as it did not have a plan for occupancy.
Scottish Greens councillor Holly Bruce has also called for the building to be operational again and pointed out her constituents want to see it happen.
