Just weeks into a new season, a girls’ football team has lost its entire kit after the manager’s truck was stolen over the weekend.

Ridgeway Lionesses U8’s Girls’ Football Team in Sheffield has been “left with nothing” after their manager Adam’s truck was stolen on Saturday.

The team has been left without footballs and football bags, kit bags, training cones and other equipment, a kit box with new dry robes for the substitutes, a first aid kit, the weekly fundraising box and cash float, and a training net. South Yorkshire Police have been informed.

One of the team’s coaches, Tara Clayton, has started a fundraiser asking for donations as they look to replace much of the stolen kit. She said: “Due to the size of the truck, we used this to transport everything, but unfortunately now we’ve been left with nothing to continue training and playing our games this season. This loss comes right at the beginning of an amazing start to the season.

“This has been reported to the police and we have a crime number to follow – but unfortunately there have been no leads over the weekend and the case has been closed. We continue to take this through insurance but in the interim we are asking for any help to ensure we can continue to play.

“These girls love and live for the game. We would like to ensure there is no pause in momentum and we can push through with a little help from others.”

The team is also asking anyone with kit to help in the interim to get in contact. You can support the fundraiser here.
