Lazarus is ready to watch on Prime Video with fans eager to know all there is about where the latest thriller was shot.

After the death of his father Dr Jonathan Lazarus (played by Bill Nighy), forensic psychiatrist Joel Lazarus (Sam Claflin) starts seeing victims of unsolved murder cases from years ago.

It is through these disturbing visions that Joel starts investigating not only their deaths, but the deaths of his dad and his sister when they were teenagers. The six-part thriller is an original story from best-selling author Harlan Coben who is behind a string of Netflix hits like Stay Close, The Stranger and Fool Me Once.

He has teamed up with BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst for Lazarus, which also explores dark themes including generational trauma and loss, something that is close to Coben’s heart.

Harlan Coben’s Lazarus on Prime Video was filmed around the north west of England in key locations around Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Bristol.

Manchester was a key location for shooting with production taking place around King Street, Ducie Street and Chinatown, whereas the Georgia Quarter, Sefton Park and Stanley Dock were used in Liverpool.

Elsewhere, filming also took place at The Midland Hotel, Morecambe, Lancashire, and parts of Bristol were used to double up as London and other European locations.

Executive producer Nicola Shindler opened up to Screen Time about why these areas worked best when it came to shooting Larazus.

Shindler shared: “As a production company, we are based there so it makes sense financially and practically to film there and also we have great locations.

“I think you see in Lazarus, more than anything we’ve done, the scale of the buildings and the architecture and filming between Manchester and Liverpool which we did on this one.

“We just managed to get a real sense of scale which isn’t always how the North West is put on screen.

“So to have that vision of Wayne Yip who’s our director who is absolutely brilliant, opening up those locations, I think it looks huge.”

Lazarus is available to watch on Prime Video.
