The popular Sheffield Volunteering Fair is set to take place next month at The Circle, 33 Rockingham Lane.

This free event, taking place on Wednesday, November 5, from 10am to 2pm, offers an opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering to meet with 20 local charities and organisations seeking volunteers to support their important work.

Organised by the Sheffield Volunteer Centre, part of Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS), the fair allows visitors to explore a wide range of volunteer roles – from gardening and befriending to event management and fundraising.

Volunteer Centre advisors will be on hand to offer guidance and help attendees find a role that suits their skills and interests.

Volunteering offers numerous benefits, including the chance to share or develop skills, gain experience, pursue hobbies, and make a positive impact on the community.

It also supports mental health and wellbeing by reducing isolation, providing a sense of achievement, and helping people connect socially.

Charities attending the fair cover diverse causes, including health, animals, and the environment. The event welcomes everyone and is fully accessible.

Paul Harvey, Head of Volunteering at Voluntary Action Sheffield, said: “Volunteering is an active and empowering activity, where we give and help our communities and get huge benefits ourselves when we do it.

“VAS supports people and groups to be the change they want to see in communities, and the Volunteer Fair is a great place to find your role. Volunteering can help you make a difference, improve wellbeing, make friends, develop skills, and feel connected to your community.”

The Volunteering Fair is supported by Sheffield City Council and is open to all. For more information, visit the Sheffield Volunteer Centre website or contact them at vc@vas.org.uk or 0114 253 6649.
