A big name Sheffield shop will soon close due to a retailer’s struggles.

Those who have visited The Moor in recent days might well have noticed ‘closing down’ signs in the window of Claire’s. As we’ve previously reported, Claire’s Accessories has faced challenges over the last few months. Administrators were appointed in August for its UK and Ireland business – the brand filed for bankruptcy in America.

The fashion accessories chain agreed to sell 156 shops to investment group Modella Capital in a rescue deal. Although, 145 stores were not saved, resulting in around 1,000 job losses. A banner in the window of the Sheffield city centre Claire’s reads: “Everything must go.”

There’s currently a 40 per cent off sale ongoing on products. We’ve previously brought you news of the Claire’s in York also closing.

The Sheffield Claire’s will be the latest major retailer to shut following on from the closure of Bodycare – in a neighbouring unit.

As always, we’ll keep you posted on the latest openings and closures in Sheffield.
