A suspect has been named after a confrontational burglary. Merseyside Police officers were called to a house in the Highfield Road area of Rock Ferry at around 3.15am on Wednesday, October 22, to reports a man had been confronted by the people living in the property.

The man fled the scene and the occupiers of the house found a quantity of cash had been stolen. Officers arrested a man nearby. Robert Harvey, 34, of Conway Street, Birkenhead, has now been charged with burglary.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens adult remand court today, Thursday October 23.

It comes as part of Operation Castle, Merseyside Police’s dedicated burglary team whose work is to reduce burglaries and bring offenders to justice.
