Liverpool ONE’s Nando’s restaurant has been closed for more than a month but is set to reopen soon. A new update from the company has revealed the reopening date and a major refurbishment has been completed inside the restaurant that will boost dining and quality of life experiences.
Last month, Nando’s closed with a notice placed on the door for customers. The branch was also removed from the company website’s list of available venues, with the closest restaurant located at Queen Square in the city centre. The windows were covered with hoardings to block views inside, while two small signs posted to update customers about the closure.
Nando’s confirmed the restaurant would remain shut for over a month, with the notice reading: “We’ll be back… and hotter than ever.” The closure was to accommodate on-site re-fittings to upgrade its in-store experience, with the reopening set for Friday, October 24.

In March, Nando’s closed the doors to the Queen Square restaurant, which it occupied for more than 20 years. Nando’s drastically upscaled and reopened the restaurant in a new home, occupying the neighbouring Ice Stone Gelato building directly opposite the premises.
Nando’s is preparing to open a sixth restaurant in Liverpool, with a new site at Edge Lane. The chicken restaurant already has five sites in the city, with locations at Liverpool ONE, Queen Square, Stonedale Retail Park, Aintree, and New Mersey Retail in Speke.
The ECHO first reported the chain’s plans to open a site on Edge Lane back in 2017, when it was understood that Nando’s would be opening a fourth city site on the retail park.

At that stage, the brand only had three sites in the city at Liverpool ONE, Queen Square and Aintree Shopping Park.
Speaking to the ECHO at the time, a Nando’s spokesperson said: “We know that there are a lot of PERi-PERi fans in Liverpool and the good news is that a brand new Nando’s will be coming to the area in late 2018. We can’t wait to start hosting people at the new restaurant soon”.
The Edge Lane restaurant will open next to a new Wingstop, as the Dallas-born chicken chain confirmed plans for 15 new venues, with two planned for Merseyside.
Wingstop launched its second Merseyside location on Monday, September 29. The first 100 people through the door at the 11am opening were treated to a free Wingstop meal of their choice.
