An Edinburgh road has been locked down after a four-vehicle crash involving two marked cop cars.

Emergency crews rushed to Broughton Street in Edinburgh this morning at around 6am after receiving a report of a four-car collision.

The crash involved two police marked vehicles, a van and a car. It is understood that three people are being treated at the scene.

Road closures are in place on East London Street, Albany Street, Forth Street and York place. Police Scotland have advised road users to avoid the area and to use a different route.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “There are several road closures in place at Broughton Street in Edinburgh following a crash involving two police marked vehicles, a van and a car.

“We received a report at 6am and emergency services are in attendance. Three people are being treated at the scene.

“The closures are in place from East London Street, Albany Street, Forth Street and York place.

“Please avoid the area and use an alternative route.”
