Birmingham City have taken 15 points from their opening 11 Championship games
Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner
Tom Wagner has reaffirmed his support for Chris Davies and says he is ‘comfortable’ with Birmingham City’s start to the season.
Blues ended a four-game winless run at Preston North End on Tuesday but they have only won twice in their last eight Championship games.
They are in the middle of a congested Championship table, three points outside the top-six and seven above the bottom three.
Wagner threw his weight behind Davies a few weeks ago and used his meeting with supporters at Wednesday night’s Open House to discuss the team’s performance at greater length.
He said: “I’m very comfortable with respect to where the club stands and our position in the table, what we’ve seen on the pitch and where I think we’ll go from here.
“We’re back in the Championship and we’ve got a new squad, with a manager who is for the first time in the Championship and I’m liking what I’m seeing because I like the process.
“I also like the fact, and I think it would be fair to say, that we are as data-forward a club as exists anywhere in European football.
“We’re very heavily focused on data and analysis, with the more important piece being the analysis, and we’re fortunate to have a manager who embraces it, understands it, knows how to use it and I shudder to think where we’ll be in a short period of time.
“Every week it seems like we’re getting better and better in how we think about and use data and how it’s enhancing our ability to make interesting decisions. I promise you we will be well ahead of the competition before very long.
“I’m excited, I’m confident, I’m comfortable and that’s all I have to say on that. There’s nothing to worry about.”
