Matheus Cunha has sent another message to Manchester United with his latest performance for Wolves.
The Brazil forward has been heavily linked with a switch to United over recent days ahead of the summer transfer window. Cunha is contracted at Wolves until 2029 after putting pen-to-paper on a new deal back in February amid ongoing speculation around his future.
Saturday afternoon saw Cunha in action for Wolves, once again, as they hosted Leicester City at Molineux. The forward opened the scoring against the Foxes to take his goal tally up to 17 in all competitions with 15 coming in the Premier League.
He also teed-up two teammates for goals later in the match to rubber-stamp a 3-0 victory.
The goal – and assists – send yet another clear message to United amid continued interest in the forward. United have identified the Wolves star as one of their primary targets going into the summer transfer window.
Cunha has a £62.5million release clause in his Wolves contract, which was added after he signed his new deal back in January. The Brazilian is not the only prime target for United this summer, though, with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap also a player of interest.
In order to sign Cunha, United are planning to raise funds through three players sales when the summer transfer window opens. One such player is Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, in an agreement that includes an option to buy for £40million.
Antony could also head for the exit door – on a permanent basis – following his loan spell with Real Betis. However, United would need to receive a fee of at least £32.52million in order to avoid making a loss on the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSRs).
Jadon Sancho is also expected to leave United this summer on a permanent transfer. An obligation to buy worth £25million has been included in the loan deal with Chelsea, with speculation also emerging that the west London outfit would need to pay a penalty fee if they choose not to sign Sancho on a permanent basis.
