Jet2 has issued an update for passengers after Leeds Bradford Airport was forced to close for several hours overnight as repairs were made to the runway.
The airport announced at 6am on Saturday October 25 that the runway had reopened and that operations had resumed. It warned that some delays and disruption could still occur.
It added: “Please arrive as planned unless advised otherwise by your airline.” In a post on Facebook the airport apologised for any inconvenience. It said: “Customers are advised to check with their airline for the most up-to-date information regarding their flight.
“Our customer care teams are working hard but are experiencing high volumes. We are responding on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Leeds Bradford Airport operates 24 hours a day, and overnight flights were diverted to Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Liverpool, Stansted, Humberside and East Midlands airports.
On Saturday, October 25, Jet2 – which is based at the airport – issued the following statement: “Currently the impact to our flying programme is unknown for Saturday 25th, all passengers due to travel should arrive at the airport for their scheduled departure times, with check in’s closing as normal, 40 Minutes before departure.”
It added a link to the EC Regulation 261/2004 which explains passenger’s rights if a flight is cancelled or delayed for more than three hours for reasons which are within control of the airline.
This includes compensation for delays of up to £220 for journeys up to 1,500km, £350 for flights between 1,500km to 3,500km and £520 for journeys more than 3,500km.
According to Flightradar24.com, the following flights are delayed from Leeds Bradford Airport as of 11.50am on Saturday October 25:
- 2pm Ryanair flight FR240 to Tenerife, estimated departure 3.05pm
- 3.35pm Jet2 flight LS439 to Dubrovnik, estimated departure 5.20pm
- 4.05pm Jet2 flight LS227 to Palma de Mallorca, estimated departure 8.01pm
- 4.45pm Jet2 flight LS475 to Dalaman, estimated departure 5.45pm
- 4.55pm Jet2 flight LS297 to Reus, estimated departure 7.10pm
- 5.15pm Jet2 flight LS223 to Tenerife, estimated departure 6.15pm
- 5.35pm Jet2 flight LS477 to Gran Canaria, estimated departure 7pm
