BBC Strictly Come Dancing has said farewell to the fourth celebrity in the latest dance-off and fans were surprised when it was announced the names of the two couples with lowest points after the public votes were added to the judges’ scores.

On Saturday night, the remaining stars paid tribute to legends in the music industry for Icons week, which saw Vicky Pattison speechless after receiving a special message.

Sadly during the results show, it was sports star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – who had achieved his highest score of 30 from the judges – and West End performer Amber Davies – who was in joint second place on the leaderboard after performing – who were at risk of going home.

As soon as the names were announced, fans rushed to X to air their frustration.

One person said: “Woah, that’s just ridiculous.” While another added: “Well that bottom 2 is diabolical.”

Someone else reeled: “Jimmy v Amber is a joke.” In agreement, one person wrote: “Bl**dy ridiculous, how on earth is Amber in the dance off.”

One fan commented: “Actually feel for Jimmy he’s obviously going to go, wrong people in the bottom completely.” As another said: “Amber vs Jimmy dance off I am in SHOCK.”

Both couples took to the ballroom again, with Amber and Nikita Kuzmin performing their Cha Cha Cha to Break Free by Ariana Grande, while Jimmy and Lauren Oakley performed their American Smooth to Purple Rain by Prince.

When it came down to who to save, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas all chose to save Amber and Nikita.

Anton Du Beke, who had the casting vote this weekend, also confirmed that he would’ve chosen to save Amber and Nikita.

This means that the duo are continuing on in the competition and will take part in Strictly’s annual Halloween special next week.

Speaking to host Tess Daly about his time on the show, Jimmy had nothing but praise as he commented: “I have absolutely loved my experience. I can only say thank you very much for letting me have this experience, and to my daughters for pushing me to come here and do this.

“I never expected that I would enjoy it this much. The people behind the scenes, from the wardrobe people to the hairdressers to the make-up people, are absolutely magnificent – thank you very much.

“This experience is going to live with me forever. Most importantly, [to Lauren], this girl is just absolutely incredible. She has been absolutely amazing with me. [To Lauren] You are a diamond.”

On Saturday night, Jimmy was given his highest score in the competition after being awarded 30, putting him joint fifth on the leaderboard with Gladiator star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

Jimmy added: “The only thing you can do is dance as best as you can and then it’s up to the public. I was actually quite happy to dance again because I wanted to do better than my previous one.

“So listen, I have had a blast. From the people up there [pointing to the other couples], to the judges – thank you very much for your comments.”

His pro partner, Lauren, spoke fondly of her time teaching Jimmy on the BBC show as she highlighted how proud she was. She added: “Oh I enjoyed it so much and I am absolutely gutted that it’s come to an end.

“We’ve had so many laughs. We have had the best time and I am so proud of how far he has come. And it proves that anyone can be a dancer if you put your mind to it.

“He’s a footballer! And he just danced like that. We’ve had the best time and I’m just so proud and I feel honoured to have been able to teach you. You’ve been an amazing student.”

Next weekend the remaining contestants will take to the dancefloor for a spooktacular Halloween special.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday 1 November at 6.35pm.
