An annual ‘pumpkin dip’ event has taken place at a Co Down beach, with dozens of hardy souls braving the cold to take to the water.
Donning carved pumpkin heads, the swimmers headed to Helens Bay on Sunday afternoon, with the event kicking off at 3pm to mark the run-up to Halloween.

Held for the first time in 2022, the event was celebrating its fourth anniversary this year.
Each year the organisers raise funds for charity, with proceeds from this year’s swim going towards Action Mental Health.

The charity, which began in Downpatrick, Co Down in 1963, actively promotes the mental health and well-being of people in Northern Ireland.
Originally known as the Industrial Therapy Organisation, it has emerged as one of the standard bearers in Northern Ireland’s mental health support sector.
