The near-legendary Frankfurt Christmas Market returns to Birmingham this weekend (Saturday, November 1). To many, it’s the first sign of Christmas and all the magic that comes with it, but to others, it’s a festive hellhole full of cheap tat, overpriced foods, and suffocating crowds.
So, if you’re looking for an alternative Christmas market (or, rather, a supplement) in Birmingham—somewhere with craft gifts, local foods, and a stunning location—look no further than the Christmas in Cathedral Square Craft Market, which is located within the grounds of the Grade 1 listed Birmingham Cathedral.

Having only launched in 2021, Birmingham’s Christmas in Cathedral Square Craft Market has quickly become a local favourite and the go-to place for the West Midlands’ very best independent traders at Christmastime. And this, there are 40 days of trading, from Friday, November 7, to Wednesday, December 24.
What will I find there?
Each year, Christmas in Cathedral Square hosts more than 60 handpicked businesses across the festive period—with everything from arts and crafts to festive food and drink. Changing stalls throughout means weekly visits are encouraged, while the craft market aims to only host handmade, locally-produced, quality, value for money, and sustainably conscious products.

Not only that, but you will find one of the most gorgeous Christmas markets in the UK—home to cute, wooden chalets, the iconic St Philip’s Cathedral as their backdrop, and all lit up by glittery lights everywhere you look. Plus, the Pigeon in the Park pop-up pub!
