A review has been launched after footage appearing to show a Merseyside Police officer using the phrase “bit noncey that, mate” was shared on social media. The video, filmed in Concert Square in Liverpool city centre, appears to show an officer confronting the person behind the camera, saying: “Do you have a problem? Do you just want to video people? Bit noncey that, mate.”

The officer then turns back towards her colleagues. Merseyside Police has since responded to the clip, which has been widely circulated on platforms including TikTok and X, formerly Twitter.

In a statement posted to X on Sunday, October 26, the force said: “We can confirm we have received a complaint in relation to this video, which has appeared on TikTok and Twitter.

“Merseyside Police expects the highest standards and values from all of staff and this video is being reviewed by our Professional Standards Department.”
