Train services to and from Glasgow Central station have been majorly distrupted this evening after a swan was on the tracks.

ScotRail, Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express trains have been all been affected with services cancelled, delayed or revised.

First reports of “animals on the track” were made just after 5.30pm on Monday evening, October 27.

Network Rail shortly after sent a response team to the station to help retrieve the swan from the tracks as quickly as possible.

The transport authority later posted a picture of the swan, saying: “A photograph of the culprit.”

Trains had to move at a reduced speed to keep the swan out of harm’s way.

The animal was safely removed from the track around an hour later and now authorities are trying to get services back up an running.

ScotRail posted on X: “Good news, the swan has been moved and is now safely away from the railway. It’s a little distressed, but recovering well.

“Thank you for your patience, we really do appreciate it. We’re working to get crew and units back into position, with services now resuming as normal.”
