A major road within the city was closed while it was tackled

A greenhouse on fire within an allotment sparked a major 999 response in Bristol tonight (Tuesday, October 28).

The incident, near Wick Road in Brislington, was reported to Avon Fire and Rescue at 7.38pm.

Photos and video from the scene shows firefighters tackling a what appears to be a significant fire.

The fire service said it started in a greenhouse.

Crews from Temple and Hicks Gate attended the incident and extinguished the fire.

It is thought the cause was accidental.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 7:38pm to a greenhouse on fire in an allotment near Wick Road, Brislington.

“Firefighters from Temple and Hicks Gate extinguished the fire.

“The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.”

Wick Road was closed off whilst the fire service were at the scene, with police being seen helping implement the road closure.
