Some Emmerdale fans fumed a new character must be “invisible” given that only a few villagers appear to have noticed him in recent weeks.

Newcomer Ray, played by actor Joe Absolom, headed to the village and was soon revealed to be a dealer. Getting teen Dylan Penders to do dodgy dealings, Ray soon manipulated April Windsor into his criminal world.

With that, we learned the mastermind behind the whole scheme was farmer Celia, who turned out to be Ray’s ‘mother’ in that she raised him from a young age after taking him in aged eight. Ray’s whole life has been taken down a dark path thanks to Celia, and now they’ve got Dylan and April involved.

Sickening scenes have shown Ray threatening the teens over their debts, and April, 16, has now been told she has no choice but to sleep with Ray’s clients to clear said debt. With the disturbing County Lines plot taking a sickening turn, viewers have been ;eft baffled by something.

Ray is constantly in the village, appearing out of nowhere. In fact, he seems to be hanging around the main part of the village, often seen luring and watching villagers, especially April and Dylan.

He’s always there, not really doing anything other than tormenting people. The problem is, no one seems to see him. A handful of characters have met him including Laurel Thomas and Ross Barton.

But when Ray is in the village, he seems to be completely invisible according to fans. It’s reached a point where baffled viewers have asked how nobody has seemed to notice the character just always being around, clearly up to no good.

Fans wondered if the character was even visible, given people act like he doesn’t exist. Taking to X, one fan said: “Don’t anybody question why Ray is hanging round so shiftily and talking to teenagers?”

A second fan said: “Vinny didn’t even see Ray and he was standing next to Dylan,” as a third added: “Invisible Ray in Mandy and Paddy’s house now, and still nobody sees him.”

Another fan asked: “How is it only Ross that sees Ray lurking around?” A further comment said: “Surely someone has noticed a creepy middle-aged man accosting teenagers every five minutes!”

The comments and questions kept on coming too, with another viewer posting: “So nobody has noticed Ray skulking around the village taking to kids.” Ray is definitely not invisible, but it remains to be seen whether villagers will soon expose what he’s up to.
