Tottenham Hotspur are considering a sensational move to rehire a coach who was unceremoniously sacked by Daniel Levy, with the experienced manager thought to be keen on a Premier League return.
Over the last couple of months, reports have continued to suggest that Mauricio Pochettino is in contention to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer.
While Spurs fans are in favour of a romantic reunion with Pochettino, many of them will be surprised and shocked by the latest name thought to be in consideration for the role.
It has now emerged that the man who replaced Pochettino at the helm at Tottenham, Jose Mourinho, is in line for a shock return to N17.

This report comes from Fichajes, who say that Mourinho’s name has ‘sounded strongly in the corridors’ of Hotspur Way, with the Portuguese coach seen as a candidate who can take Tottenham back on the right track after a poor season.
Mourinho’s contract with Fenerbahce ends this summer, and it is revealed that he would be keen to return to the Premier League.
The 62-year-old is thought to retain admirers among the Spurs top brass despite being sacked in 2020, famously just before a Carabao Cup final, in which the Lilywhites lost 1-0 to Man City.
Mourinho’s experience and ability to manage pressure situations are seen as the key attributes that make him an attractive candidate for the North London club, along with his excellent track record in Europe.
Why a Mourinho return to Spurs is extremely far-fetched
It is clear that the ‘special one’ is now past his best and one doubts if any top clubs around Europe would consider hiring him.
It would be a backwards step for Tottenham Hotspur as Mourinho has always been a short-term solution rather than someone who can build a long-term project.
Besides, there was a clear falling out between the parties when they parted ways in 2020, with Mourinho taking several pot-shots at Spurs over the last few years.
The possibility of a reunion is thus unlikely to be considered either by Tottenham or by the Portuguese coach himself.
