490 black solar panels will cover the roof at Pudsey company Omega Stone, after council planners gave the green light.
Omega Stone, on Carlisle Road, has successfully applied for planning permission for 490 black panels covering the roof area of the main factory building and two small outbuildings.
A design statement submitted in support of the application said: “The proposed solar PV system has been designed with careful consideration of aesthetics, safety, and environmental impact. The use of black panels with anti-reflective glass ensures a visually harmonious and low-impact installation, well-suited to the industrial setting of the factory roof.
“The installation will generate clean, renewable energy, contributing to the site’s sustainability goals and reducing reliance on grid electricity.”
A planning officer’s report approving the plans concluded: “In view of the nature of the proposed installation installed on shallow pitched roof forms, and taking account the anti-reflective glass technology on balance it is considered that there would be no impact of glint and glare on occupiers of neighbouring land.”
