Tributes have been pouring in for a “fantastic mother” who has died alongside her dog following a crash in Port Glasgow.
Amy Gray, 42, from Port Glasgow, was crossing the east bound carriageway of the A8 on Greenock Road with her dog Reggie when they were struck by a Land Rover Sport at around 7.05am on Wednesday October 29.
Despite emergency crews attending the area, both tragically died at the scene. The driver was not injured in the collision.
Amy’s family have been made aware of her death by Police Scotland. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
As the A8 Greenock Road reopened, tributes for the mum flew in on social media.
Stephanie Minton wrote: “Absolutely gutted to hear this, RIP Amy. Thinking of her kids and the rest of her family and friends.”
Alana Robertson said: “Absolutely heartbroken, I can’t get her poor kids and family out my mind. You were such a beautiful person inside and out xx.”
Francesca McBryde continued: “Devastated. What a woman, a fantastic mother and a loving partner taken far too soon. I will miss our conversations and neighbourly walks, Amy. Thoughts and prayers are with David, the kids, Emma and Daniel and all the family at this very very sad time xxx.”
Jen Marshall added: “Heartbreaking. Amy had the brightest smile. Thoughts and prayers to your babies and family.”
Sergeant Patrick McWilliams, Police Scotland Road Policing, said: “We have specialist officers with Mrs Gray’s family at this extremely difficult time.
“I’d ask anyone who witnessed the collision, or who have dashcam footage of the incident, to contact police.”
A spokesperson for the force added: “A 42-year-old woman and her dog have died in a collision on the A8, Greenock Road, Port Glasgow.
“Around 7.05am on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, Amy Gray from Port Glasgow, and her dog Reggie were struck by a Land Rover Sport as they crossed the east bound carriageway of Greenock Road.
“Emergency services attended but both died at the scene. Their family is aware. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“The driver of the Land Rover was not injured.
“Details cane be passed to police via 101. Please quote incident 0401 of Wednesday, 29 October 2025 when calling.
“The A8 Greenock Road is now open.”
