Huawei has beaten Samsung to the punch when it comes to the first tri-fold phone, and now it looks like the company will become the first to release a dual 200 MP camera phone. New information has surfaced hinting at the Chinese company working on its next Pura series flagship that will carry two 200 MP cameras within its multi-camera setup.

The information comes courtesy of Digital Chat Station over on Weibo (machine translated from Chinese) and while the leaker didn’t mention Huawei specifically, they did use an emoji that is often used to reference Huawei. The post states that the company is testing a camera setup with a 200 MP main camera and a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera. This phone is suspected to be the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra, the successor to the Pura 80 Ultra.

For now, as far as leaks are concerned, very little information about the Pura 90 Ultra is available online. Another leaker recently shared on Weibo that the Pura 90 Pro+ is also being tested with a dual 200 MP camera setup. This would be the first Huawei phone to come with a 200 MP camera, let alone two of them.

The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra was released in June this year so it’s going to be a while before the Pura 90 Ultra becomes official. On the other hand, Samsung doesn’t seem to have any such plans for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, which is said to launch later than usual in 2026. The Chinese manufacturer has already beat the Korean giant with the world’s first commercially available tri-fold phone, and now it looks to be on track to become the first with a dual 200 MP camera setup, if no one else does it in the interim.
