A fundraiser set up by the brother-in-law of a “fantastic mother” who died alongside her dog in a crash in Port Glasgow has raised more than £19k in seven hours.

Amy Gray, 42, was crossing the east bound carriageway of the A8 on Greenock Road with her dog Reggie on Wednesday October 29 when they were struck by a Land Rover Sport at around 7.05am.

Both sadly died at the scene, despite emergency crews attending the area. The driver was not injured in the collision.

Amy’s family have been made aware of her death by Police Scotland. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A GoFundMe page has now been started by her sister Emma’s husband, Daniel Hagen, following her tragic passing and raised £19,291 at the time of writing.

Daniel thanked everyone for their kind words in a statement attached to the fundraiser. It read: “Hi everyone, my name is Daniel Hagen and my wife Emma lost her big sister Amy on Wednesday 29th October.

“I am sure everyone has heard the news and judging by all the comments online and in person, she was loved as much by all of you, as she was by all of us.

“I’m hoping for help with fundraising for her partner David and all the kids she has left behind, Bethany, Harrison, Ava, Torin and Lucy.

“Amy was the most fun, bubbly, happy woman I’ve ever known and I know everyone will miss her crazy laugh as much as we do.

“Please, please share this around as much as you can and help us take care of Amy’s family. Thank you.”
