
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
Volunteers will be meeting at 10am on Saturday at Hunslet Cemetery, Middleton Road, to carry out various tidying up activities. New people are always welcome and equipment is provided.
The Church of the Nazarene host a coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, Hunslet, LS10 2QR.
There’s a Christmas Fair at the Salvation Army on Saturday from 11am-1pm. Hunslet Hall Road, LS11 6QB. Toys, Christmas decorations and jumpers, plus bacon butties.
Rowland Road Play Patch is going with a Halloween theme for this week’s session on Saturday 11am-2pm. Expect potions, sweeties, pumpkin hunt, fancy dress optional. The play patch is behind Rowland Road Club, LS11 6ED.
It’s the Manorfield Hall Christmas Fair on Saturday 12-2:30pm. Entry is £1 with a raffle ticket and a hot drink. Newhall Road, LS10 3RR.
On Saturday afternoon the Beeston Repair Café launches. Bring broken electricals, cloths needing alterations, a bike that needs attention. The volunteer fixers will do their best to mend them. 1-4pm at St Luke’s CARES shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.
Also on Saturday the Leeds Knights take on the Telford Tigers in the NIHL National Division. The ice hockey match faces off at 6:30pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.
The Friends of Middleton Park are holding their monthly litterpick on Sunday, meeting at the visitor centre by the lake at 1pm. Equipment is provided so why not join them and help make sure the park looks its best for the Great Middleton Park Show next week.
As it’s the first week of November there are a number of residents meetings taking place, starting with Middleton Community Group which meets on Monday, 6-7pm, at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre, Acre Road, LS10 4LF.
Buy, Sell, Swap is the new version of the jumble or car boot sale and you can take part in one at Manorfield Hall Community Centre, Newhall Road, LS10 3RR on Tuesday 10-11:30am. Entry is free, refreshments will be on sale, get down a buy, sell or swap new and used items.
Stronger Together is a friendly support group for parents, guardians and carers who care for children and young people with disabilities. It is a monthly space to chat and share. The next meeting is on Tuesday, 11am-1pm at BITMO’s GATE, Aberfield Gate, LS10 3QH.
The next Inner South West Community Committee is on Tuesday, 5:30pm at Leeds Civic Hall, LS1 1UR. This is a public meeting where you can raise questions or issues directly with your Councillors. The meeting will also be livestreamed and a recording will be available to watch on YouTube.
Holbeck Together are holding a Bonfire Night Pie & Pea lunch for the over 55s on Wednesday. It’s at Ingram Gardens Community Centre from 12-1:30pm, £6 per person, book on 0113 245 5553
Hunslet Carr Residents Association meets on Thursday, 6:30pm, at Woodhouse Hill Community Centre, LS10 2EF
Also on Thursday, Beeston Community Forum meets at 7pm at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.
Middleton Elderly Aid host their monthly free legal advice drop -in on Friday morning fropm 9:30-11:30am at their Social Centre on Acre Road, LS10 4LF.
And finally, Hunslet RLFC are presenting An Evening With Garry Schofield on Friday. Reminiscing on a decade in the Ashes (1984-85) expect legends, laughs and League. Book tickets here, £12 including Pie and Peas. In the Phoenix Bar at South Leeds Stadium, Middleton Grove, LS11 5DJ.
