A body has been recovered from Newry River this afternoon, Friday, October 31.
Police have confirmed that a body has been recovered from the river in the Albert Basin area of the city. A post-mortem will take place in due course.
Earlier the PSNI confirmed that emergency services are at the scene of an ongoing incident in Newry this Friday afternoon. The area of the Albert Basin from the William Street Bridge towards Fathom Line, is currently closed.
The PSNI have since confirmed that a body has been recovered from the Newry River.
A spokesperson said: “Police can confirm that a body has been recovered from Newry River in the Albert Basin area of the city this afternoon, Friday 31st October. A post-mortem will take place in due course.
“Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of an ongoing incident. You’re advised to take another route for your journey.”
